Silverton Ski Area - Silverton Mountain
The Silverton Ski Area has some of the most advanced terrain in Colorado. The mountain is unique and the town welcoming. This is a true backcountry experience that will impress the most experienced riders.
The Mountain
This is a genuine mountain experience with one lift that will deliver you to the mountain. There are no groomed trails and over 400" of annual snowfall. The mountain is 13,487 ft. tall and there are 1,819 acres of terrain. The lift provides access to 1,900 ft. over vertical and you can hike or helicopter to 3,087 ft. of vertical. There are no beginner runs as everything is advanced and expert terrain. You are required to carry avalanche gear and a beacon. If you want to ski outside of the unguided terrain you are required to hire a guide with a maximum of 8 people per group.
The Town
Silverton Co is a small mountain community located deep in the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado. The mountain is 6 miles from Silverton with the closest town being Montrose at 50 miles. The town offers plenty of lodging and dining opportunities year-round. In the summer this is a hopping tourist destination with the Durango-Silverton Railroad and the Alpine Scenic Loop. This is a remote town where cautious driving is advised. It is also in the running for the best Colorado scenery and landscape.
